For those missing Cat and Bones!

If you reconginze the names in my title then you are a Jeanine Frost fan as I am!  As you know Cat and Bones are the main characters of Ms. Frost's Grave series which is sadly to coming to an end in 2014.  Well don't despair my friends, I just read Hell's Belle by Karen Greco and it has the same elements in Nina and Max's story who are the herione and hero of the story.  There are supernatural elements galore, FBI agents, family issues and lots of conflict.  Give it a try - I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Turn of the Century Mystery

I just finished reading, Temptation Bay by Anna Sullivan.  While I enjoyed the plot, I found it a little too long for my liking.  It is about a kidnapped heiress at the turn of the century.  Problem is that there was a huge explosion and nobody knows if the heiress who was an infant at the time, survived.
Present day, a private eye is sent to the secluded island to find out if the heiress survived and more importantly if any of her offspring is living today.  There is romance and suspense and full disclosure, you don't find out what happens as there is a sequel!   What a disappointment!  I really wanted to know how things ended.  L

Beach Time Reading

Well summer is winding down but there is still time for some beach time reading!
I just read Dead Sexy Dragon by Lolita Lopez and was charmed by the story.
Basically a really old [in years not looks], man/dragon hiding his secret from a girl in trouble.
Of course our hero has to help the girl in trouble! Duh!!    Enjoy :)

Books and Their Covers!

So is it just me or do you get frustrated when the cover models don't look like their description in the book?  I'm currently reading a novel where they describe the hero as dark haired Spaniard and on the book cover is a BLOND guy!   Hello, do the publishers/editors not read what they publish?    I don't know why they even use real people, our imaginations are much better.  I prefer the cover to be like "50 Shades of Grey" showing a key chain or some other inanimate object.  I am definitely more attracted to those covers.  Sometimes if I don't like the way the model looks I won't even look at what the book is about.  Just saying sometimes it is better not to know what they look like except in our own minds.  Happy reading!

Animal Lovers this book is for YOU!

Hearts in Motion by Edie Ramer is a heart warming romantic story will lots of comments thrown in by the main character, Abby Pimm's menagerie of animals including 3 cats and 1 dog.  Abby has seen her share of heartache and hardship.  After loosing both her parents she must care for her younger sister while trying to make a go of her cat furniture business.  Wealthy businessman Holden Ramsay reconnects with Abby when he employs her to look after his daughter for a couple of weeks and Abby's animals think its time that she settles down with a good man once and for all.  This book is funny and engaging even bringing tears to my eyes.  It is a fast read perfect for a day at the beach that will leave you feeling good all over.

The Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic

I just had the pleasure of reading the advance copyof "The Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic" by Emily Croy Barker and it reminded me a lot of the Deborah Harkness novel "Shadow of Night". The main character, Nora Fischer stumbles through a portal into another world where nothing is as it seems and magic is everywhere.  Through a series of events she allies with the reclusive magician Aruendiel who teaches her magic to survive in this harsh enviroment.  Romantic sparks ignite between teacher and student.  Overall I enjoyed this rather lengthy novel and will definitely pick up the sequel to see what happens next.

Slow Summer Burn by Elisabeth Barrett

Reading Ms. Barrett's books are a double edged sword.

On one hand I can't wait to read what happens and on the other hand I know I will be finished another exciting novel all too soon!

Val Grayson's story does NOT disappoint. Socialite Cameron Stahl and Val Grayson ignite in this great summer read. If you don't read anything else this summer please pick up this book and if this is your first Grayson novel I DARE you not to read the previous three adventures. Can't wait for her next novel. Please hurry!!!

Summer is here and the romance is HOT!

Just read two great novels!  The first from one of my favourite authors, Maya Banks.  You know how you feel when you're going out to dinner with a close friend?  You know you will have a great time and can't wait for the party to start!  Well that's how it is when I have a new novel by Ms. Banks to read and with her latest KGI novel, "Forged in Steele" she doesn't disappoint.
It's a fast paced, hot romance with lots of action!  You don't want to get too comfortable when the main characters, Steele and Dr. Maren Scofield connect as you're always waiting for the "other shoe" to drop!  Ms. Banks melds this stand alone story with characters from her past KGI novels with ease and little confusion.  If you haven't already read one of Ms. Banks's stories then please start with this one.  By the end I guarantee you will be anxious to read the whole KGI series to date.

The next book I read was a panaromal romance called "Kiss of Blood" by Pamela Palmer.  This is the 2nd novel involving Quinn who is entrenched in a alternate Washington D.C. called Washington V.C. where all sorts of creatures live.  There Quinn meets Arturo a vampire trying to save his friends and Quinn is their only hope.  Although I haven't read the first novel in this series the story line was easy to pick up and I quite enjoyed this book so much so that I will be picking up the next novel in the series as I want to see how the plot develops.     I gave this book a read as it came highly recommended by one of my favourite vampire authors, Jeaniene Frost.

These two novels will turn up the heat on your summer, I guarantee it! Enjoy J

Mine to Take by Cynthia Eden

Well this is the first novel I have read by Cynthia Eden and I can tell you it won't be my last! I thoroughly enjoyed the twist and turns this romantic adventure took. It had me guessing till the final pages and I'm pretty good at figuring out the "who dunnit" novels. Skye Sullivan and Trace Weston bring all the elements to this hot romance, inclulding struggle, survival and ultimately trust. Great Job Ms. Eden I highly recommend this novel to all my friends and look forward to reading your other novels especially the parnormal ones!

A wee bit of Scottish Charm!

Just finished reading my first book written by Janet Elizabeth Henderson and thoroughly enjoyed it! It was well written story with lots of heart. I loved Betty "the hobbit" and her interactions with the hero Lake Benson. Loved Kirsty Campbell's pick yourself up attitude and hope Ms. Henderson writes more stories involving the charming Scottish town and its residents. If you love all things Scottish [and even if you don't] I would highly recommend this book.

p.s. Loved the cover too! Too many times I am put off a good story just by the cover. I think our imaginations can do much better job picturing the characters in a novel better than any paid models can do them justice.  Just saying......

Drugs, Sex and Rock 'n Roll!

Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley
This is the 1st book I have read by Kristen Ashley and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Lanie Heron is the "good little rich girl" who is best friends with the wife of the Chaos Motorcycle Club's head honcho and thus becomes involved with the club and their goings on. When Lanie propositions Hop Kincaid, a biker with the club, lets just say sparks fly. Added to the mix is intrigue and you have drugs, sex and rock n' roll. I would definitely read another Kristen Ashley book and I give this one 4 stars out of 5.

Start Your Summer Reading!

Well your favourite television shows have ended with cliff hangers and now you have nothing but time before you find out what happens.  What better way to wait it out till September than to read hot new romance novels.

First there is the "Accidential Demon Slayer" series written by Angie Fox.  It was funny, fast paced, romantic and of course the heroine kicks butt!   The latest novel, I believe 5th in the series comes out  July 2013.

I LOVE Scotland and anything Scottish!  So I was immediately drawn to "Awaken the Highland Warrior" by Anita Clenney.  A warrior is awakened after 150 years by a woman looking for hidden treasure.  Guess what happens next.  Yep, demons, lust and saving the world!

One of my favourite authors is Jayne Ann Krentz who also writes as Amanda Quick.  Recently I read her latest in the Lantern Ladies Street series, "Mystery Woman".  Ms. Krentz never disappoints!

Wish I Had a Personal Chef!

Just read Kim Barnouin's latest novel, Skinny Bitch in Love to be released June 2013.  The main character, Clementine Cooper is a vegan chef trying to get enough capital to open her own vegan restaurant in L.A.  Unfortunately her "perfect" location is taken by a hunky meat eating billionaire named, Zach who opens a steak house and you guessed it sparks fly!  Although I'm not a vegan, the recipes Clem creates makes me wish that I could hire her to cook for me.  Maybe I will give it a go.J
Although I found it a little slow in parts I give it 3 stars and would highly recommend as reading material when by the pool or beach this summer.

Hot Contempary Romances

Well, Summer has finally arrived!  Don't know what part of the Country your'e in but in Southern Ontario it is HOT!!!  And what better way to stay hot than to read three new novels.  Can't wait for June. :)

1st there is Maya Banks who latest novel "Forged in Steele" due out June 2014 tells Steele's story.  This series deals with the Kelly Clan who are ex soliders, navy and army who take on special cases.  Steele is leader of one of these specialized teams.  If you are looking for action packed adventure spiced with romance you will not be disappointed.

Next up is Sylvia Day's long awaited 3rd and final novel in the Crossfire Series called "Etwined with You" out June 2014.  If you like 50 Shades of Grey you will definitely love this well written trilogy.

Finally can't wait for Jennifer Probst's "Marriage Merger" coming out July 2013.  It is Juliette Conte's story when she finds the spell that makes dreams come true.  At least that is what I am hoping happens!

Happy Reading J

Modern Day Romance

I recently had the pleasure of getting an advance copy of Elisabeth Barrett's newest romance adventure called, Long Simmering Spring.  It follows Cole Grayson, Star Harbor’s sexy sheriff, as he finds passion and love with the town’s beautiful doctor, Julie Kensington.  And lucky for us there is more!  Deep Autumn Heat and Blaze of Winter are already out featuring Cole's brothers, Theo and Sebastian.  Can't wait for Val's story coming in August 2014 and the mystery of the pirate cove keys to be solved......enjoy :)

Looking for Vampire Romance?

Looking for a great story involving adventure, mystery, and vampire romance?  Then look no further than Jeaniene Frost!  I have read EVERYTHING she has ever written.  I first got hooked on her Night Huntress series featuring Cat and Bones and was NOT disappointed.  A truly talented writer, Jeaniene keeps you on the edge of your seat and takes you on a roll coaster adventure.  Next came the one two punch with none other than the story of Dracula himself, Vlad.  Once Burned and Twice Tempted is a page turner.  I am wishing my life away waiting for the third and final installment of this series to come out in January 2014.  Enjoy you WILL NOT be disappointed!
